Education

TaLI is leading the campaign “Every Child In School – ECIS” in partnership with local Zimbabwe Civil Society Organisations, calling on the government of Zimbabwe to allow vulnerable children who are currently out of school due to inability to afford tuition and levies required at enrolment, to be allowed into public primary schools. Launched on the 14th of December 2017, the campaign has petitioned the minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Professor Paul Mavima to release a circular that instructs all school authorities to accept children who do not have all the required funds into schools while they negotiate for payment plans with their families. To date the response from the government has been slow. The campaign has engaged parliamentarians including the Parliamentary Committee on Education. A letter to the new President of Zimbabwe has also been submitted to ask the president to put children at the centre of the new dispensation by holding The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education accountable to urgently deliver on the issue of access to education for the vulnerable chidlren.
