On Friday the 12th of November 2021, Tali went to Hurungwe for the UNDP project on Renewable energy sustainable development and environmental management. In this project the community was taught by Me Mhlanga on types of renewable and non renewable energy and their advantage and disadvantages. The main key of the program was to educate the community more on renewable energy such as Biogas illustrating its social impact and economic impact. The facilitator also gave the community time to engage and interact in form of a group discussion on their thoughts on renewable energy and in giving feedback they raised points such as it reduces labour for women, saves time on their duties , it keeps the environment safe because they will be less cutting down of trees which provides them with oxygen, life made easy and cooking on time.

In addition a representative from EMA, Mr Muchenje also educated the community on environment management, environmental impact of renewable energy sources in compliance with laws and regulations on environmental management such laws as Environmental Act, Forestry Act, Communal lands Forestry Produce and Pact and wildlife management act.

 

Lastly a discussion was made on Tree planting day on what needs to be done such as clearing the land, digging holes and visiting the site and suggesting the number of trees needed which amounted to 200 and the types
