Nyasha Grace Manzou is a 20-year old Robotics enthusiast, writer, and passionate advocate for girls’ empowerment and menstrual conversations. I am planning to study Finance Engineering in tertiary studies.

I’m confident that I’ll make a significant impact and drive meaningful change. TaLI through the LEMHs programme has empowered me to become a true change maker. With the knowledge and skills I’ve gained, I’m poised to become a great leader and achieve success in my advocacy efforts. I’m well-equipped to make a lasting impact in my community and beyond, and I’m excited to see my plans come to fruition.

Growing up, I was fascinated by robotics and science. I represented my high school in science exhibitions and competitions, and won two awards at the district and provincial levels. I even participated in the African Science Busking competition and took home a Tab A10 Samsung Galaxy! In academics, I’ve been blessed with nine (9) awards and graduated from the Star Girls Africa program in Egypt with a Certificate in Electronics. Writing is my other passion, and I’ve been published in various magazines and online platforms, including Slim Entertainment Magazine, NaijaPals, Indol.y Magazine. My articles focus on feminism, personal growth and social issues that matter to me.

My true calling is empowering girls and women. I founded Bright Girls Movement, a non-profit organization dedicated to instilling confidence, providing basic needs, and creating a supportive community. We’ve organized donations, clean-up campaigns etc, I have hosted talk shows with experts, and volunteered with organizations like Wildlife Conservation Action, Let’s Speak Africa and Woman of Africa Zimbabwe. I’m honored to serve as a Brand Ambassador for Her Confidence Organisation and have been nominated for several awards, including the She Inspires Awards and She-Hero Global 2024. In 2023, I won the Girl Child Empowerment People’s Choice award at the Ignite Youth Awards. I’m proud to be the founder & host of ‘My PERIOD Period Talk Show’! a platform which breaks menstrual stigmas, educates, and empowers individuals. Featured in H-Metro, we’re making a difference in menstrual health, hygiene, and awareness.

Attending the LEMHS bootcamp was a transformative experience. I gained valuable insights, but perhaps the most important lesson was learning to acknowledge and embrace my weaknesses as a leader. By accepting my weaknesses, I’m committed to self-improvement and fostering a culture of trust and support. Empowered by the LEMHs programme, I’m eager to expanding my movement. My goal is to engage more men and women in workshops, teaching them about menstruation. By sharing my knowledge, I aim to promote sustainability, break down stigmas, and foster a more informed and supportive community.
