My name is Chandell Tadiwa Charenzva and l am a LEMHster. I am 22 years old. After the LEMHs training l can say l am now a self-aware leader and a goal getter. The LEMHs program have provided a platform for me to self-introspect l would say it was an eye opener for me to realize the potential and power within me to bring a positive change. I graduated from the University of Zimbabwe with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology last year and have been trying to shape my career however I was not sure of anything l was doing neither did l had a well-organized plan. The LEMHs training did the magic and brought light as l was taught about developing a Personal Leadership Plan and that was a turn around to really think and plan for what l need to do with my life.
“Leader know thy self” was a wakeup call for me to embrace who l am, motivated me to dig deeper the power and potential within me. Personal leadership session taught me the importance and power of being self-aware in order to lead a purposeful and meaningful life. Intersectionality was a relatively new topic to me and l have seen myself being interested in wanting to learn and understand more. SRHR and GBV have been my passion in order to ensure women have a safe space.
I am now a goal oriented personal. Leaving up to the goals l have set in my Personal Leadership Plan. I have unleashed the leader within me and l now dare to take Leadership position in my circles. Just after the orientation itself l joined Young People’s Network in SRHHA in Chitungwiza district and l took up the leadership position as the District Secretary and in my small circles l am being initiative and raising to the cause of leadership. The thematic area of climate change hit me differently l have been ignorant before but now l am conscious about my environment and now learning to practice safe disposal of waste and encouraging others to mind their environment; however young people are ignorant and the escalating rates of drug abuse make it difficult to have a meaningful engagement with them. Owing to economic hardship engaging a young person is not easy as they don’t spare time for learning rather they demand incentives for their time and makes it difficult to engage them.
Owing to the financial literacy session l see myself in the next 10years as a well-established business lady, in the poultry farming which l am currently doing for sustainability. I see myself as a property owner and financially independent women. I also see myself involved in Advocacy issues concerning Adolescent Girls and Young Women.
