A 42 year old Budiriro man beat up his wife of 10 years to the extent of removing her frontline teeth in a bid to punish his wife for attending a church crusade in their neighbourhood.

In an interview with the press the victim to the abuse stipulated that this was not the first time she had received this kind of harsh treatment from her husband especially when he was drunk like on this day and that this time the treatment has reached its maximum point that she is cannot take it anymore.

On the 1st of June 2021 the Faith First Church decided to host a three nights crusade at an open space at Current Complex in Budiriro. The victim and her friend attended the first two nights of the crusade and also the last night, although the last night was different.

This is so because the husband of the victim came back home early from work and couldn’t find his wife anywhere near the house. He said he then asked the neighbours and they told him that his wife had gone to a church crusade at Current Complex.

His neighbour explained to the press that the 42 year old became so furious to the point that he started threatening to kill the victim the moment she gets back.

However, it is said that he couldn’t wait any longer so he followed his wife to the crusade and dragged her back to their house. The victim explained that on their way home the husband would drag her, kick her, slap her and call her names.

She further explained with tears on her cheeks that when they reached home the man gave her a very strong and very hurtful fist fight on her mouth areal and she started bleeding and four top frontline teeth were removed from their sockets.

The victim to this abuse stipulated that, ‘This was not the first time her husband had laid hands on me. He used to tell me that for someone with such a degree as I, with such interllect I was very stupid’ he would beat her up. She said statements like that would make her doubt and question herself.

She said for a while she blamed herself for the way he treated her, she tried to shrug things off and made excuses for him. The neighbours would ask her to press charges or at least get a peace order but she always refused even when her husband appeared to have almost blocked her airways and killed her.

She said this is because her husband had made her believe that she could not live without him and her mother warned her that if she stays with this man she would end up in a body bag one day and on this day her words almost came true when her husband gave her a fist fight.

One of the neighbours further stated that the victim’s husband is a very violent person and that the level of alcohol that night made that particular attack so much worse and that’s why potentially the victim would have ended up dead but with the neighbour’s help and rescue the victim survived. This time she realised she had to leave her husband and decided to press charges.
