Leadership, Economic and Mentorship Hubs(LEMHs) programme: Tag a Life International Trust (TaLI)
Deadline: 31 March 2023
Tag A Life International Trust (TaLI), an adolescent girls and young women’s (AGYW) rights organisation is happy to announce the call for participants for our Class of 2023-2024 Leadership, Economic and Mentorship Hubs (LEMHs) programme for Zimbabwe.
The LEMHs programme aims to grow young women and girls between the ages of 16 and 24 in the areas of thought leadership, active citizenry, team development, engagement and collaboration, with the intention of enabling them to solve the complex issues that they face in their own communities and the global community.
The one-year leadership programme includes training, movement building in communities, implementation of community projects, stakeholder engagement and access to hubs for support and networking. The training content includes topics on Human and Women’s Rights, Young Women’s Leadership and Political Participation, Democracy, Governance and Accountability, Economic Empowerment, Education and Psycho Social Support, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights/HIV & AIDS, Gender Based Violence & Peace Building, Environment and Climate, Information and Technology, among relevant issues that affect them.
For the current class of 2023-2024, TaLI is inviting young females leaders from Manicaland, Midlands and Harare who have a passion and can commit to advancing and advocating for the rights of young women and girls in Zimbabwe and beyond. These should come from communities and also universities/colleges. Young women who are survivors of early and forced marriages, living with disability and HIV are encouraged to apply. The training itself requires time commitment of up to 10 days in a Boot camp and those interested should be willing to sign a contract with us of commitment. There will be leadership and growth activities through out the year that will need commitment of the applicant. Beyond the first year the participants become alumni of the project.
Furthermore, participants will be expected to develop their leadership projects and engage with other young women as well as local leaders to implement the projects in their communities to demonstrate that young women can mobilise themselves, build movements and are solutions to their problems, are leaders and change-makers.
They will also have chances to engage with national leaders such as members of parliament to advance their issues as part of TaLI’s advocacy initiatives. TaLI has also provided opportunities for young women to engage in regional and international issues through Adolescent Girls and Young Women Africa (AGYW Afeica), a Pan Africanist young women’s movement to advance their rights and hold leadership accountable.
At the end of the one year programme, the LEMHsters will graduate and only those who successfully met the requirements will be able to graduate with a certificate.
This is a voluntary opportunity and therefore candidates must not expect to be paid to attend or to work in their communities, it is for those passionate about working for their community as active citizens advancing their own rights and fighting for justice. Only those passionate should apply.
To apply, share with us 10 lines outlining your personal profile, explain why you think you should be enrolled into this leadership programme. You do not need to have worked in the community to qualify, but you must have passion and interest to work once trained.
