Bridgetti G Mambondiani is a #LEMHs alumni from the 2022-2023 class and a law student at the University of Zimbabwe. Her niche is Human Rights and Climate change Activism .She believes that access to information is a constitutional right in Zimbabwe and hence the role of young people to create awareness when the state falls short .
Every 30th of June , the Auditor General of Zimbabwe has to issue the OAG report. The report highlights findings and recommendations on:
- Financial management and accountability
- Compliance with laws and regulations
- Effectiveness and efficiency of operations
- Waste and mismanagement of resources
- Fraud and corruption.
In Zimbabwe, the Auditor-General’s report plays a crucial role in ensuring good governance, accountability, and transparency in the public sector. Its findings and recommendations help Parliament, the Executive, and the public to hold public entities accountable for their actions.
In this light Bridget and a team of other young women wrote a letter to the OAG demanding the release of the report .The auditor responded and issued the report for tabling at the Parliament . The objective of this initiative is to ensure that the citizens of Zimbabwe are aware of the findings in the documents and explore actions to hold the government accountable.
One of the crucial topics that are train during the first stage of #LEMHs programme is young women in governance and democracy, we are delighted to see Bridget implementing what she learnt during her 12 day boot camp.
