Tatenda Delight Madondo is a 20-year-old young woman from Rusape, studying Laboratory Technology at Mutare Polytechnic. Tatenda has a passion to advocate for human rights and community development.

l am a hardworking girl who believes that ‘nothing is impossible!’. When the 12-day bootcamp started, I was a shy girl. Participating in the learning sessions, group discussions, presentations and individual assignments nurtured my confidence. The bootcamp helped me realise that lacking confidence was a part of me that I could work on and improve, and I did just that! Socializing and networking with the other girls made me realize everyone is equal regardless of your status, where you come from and I learnt how to network with fellow young women for the greater good of our communities.

I gained plenty of knowledge from the different topics such as Young Women and Intersectionality, Women’s Rights and Constitutionalism, which l strongly believe have changed my perspectives and I want to share them with other young people. Teamwork is very important advocacy work, especially to achieve gender equality. I would like to advocate for young women participation in leadership and economic opportunities in my community.

I believe that young women can mobilize themselves and come up with solutions to their problems, if they have full support from empowering programmes such as the LEMHs bootcamp.
