A Story of Change: Alista Kainos’ Journey
Meet Alista Kainos, the founder of Alista Youth Association, a registered organization under the Zimbabwe Youth Council (ZYC). Alista Youth Association focuses on comprehensive Sexuality Education (SRHR), capacity building skills, and counseling. Alista is passionate about advocating against drug and substance abuse.
Empowering Youth Against Drug Abuse
Being part of the LEMHs program class of 2024-2025 marked a significant turn in Alista’s life. Tag A Life International supported her in launching the DaSAF (Drug and Substance Abuse Fighters) movement. The DaSAF movement aims to:
– Educate young people about the dangers of drug abuse
– Establish clubs in schools and communities to fight against substance abuse
– Train young people to become advocates for change
A Ripple Effect
The movement has made significant progress:
– Commemorated the Day of the African Child with the Bright Girls Movement, reaching 142 people
– Provided a platform for children to share their experiences and perspectives
– Increased awareness among young people about the dangers of drug and substance abuse
– Trained about 120 youths and issued them certificates as Drug and Substance Abuse Fighters
Partnerships and Impact
Alista’s initiative has fostered community engagement and collaboration:
– Partnered with Tag A Life International to launch the DaSAF club at Chiredzi Christian College
– Created a strong and vibrant club to educate and empower young people
– Provided support and assistance to individuals involved in substance abuse
Future Plans
Alista’s vision for the future includes:
– Expanding clubs to different provinces, including Masvingo, Midlands, and Manicaland
– Strengthening partnerships with other organizations to amplify the movement’s impact
A Testimony to Change
Alista credits the 12-day boot camp with Tag A Life International for equipping her with the skills and confidence to drive meaningful change. Her journey is a testament to the power of empowerment and community.
