My name is Bridgetti G Mambondiani. I am 23 years old. I live in Chitungwiza Zengeza 3 Ext. I am a second year law student at the University of Zimbabwe. I am a very passionate leader and a student activist. I would like to describe myself as someone who is now focused, techno-centric, robust activist and intellectually and artistically fun. The LEMHs programme greatly impacted me with full knowledge on the route of leadership and activism. It made me realise that there is a huge gap that needs to filled in terms of achieving women empowerment and hence increased my inspiration to participate and impact the lives of other young women.
I am a very passionate about human rights and advocacy and I aspire to become a human rights activist one day. In the next few years I see myself as a very strong influential powerful in economic and political sectors. I’m greatly moved by the desire of emancipation and developing power to positively impact the lives of young women and see more women participation and involvement in all circles. From the thematic areas that underline the LEMHs training, my areas of interest are in leadership, activism, advocacy and women’s rights and intersectionality.
As a trained leader, my leadership skills include confidence, networking skills, communication skills, computer literacy, and social skills. After the LEMHs programme I became more self-aware as to my potential and capacity to lead. I also manage to create a personal development plan and learned the power of consistency and determination in achieving my goals. With the skills I gained from the LEMHs training, I have managed to make it my duty to educate more young women on the reasons why they should participate and take positions. I’ve also taken it on myself to encourage young women to be positive and realise their potentials and capacity in becoming great leaders. The challenges comes with convincing young women and parents not to be so much afraid of emancipating young female but however I strongly believe I am making progress.
In the next 10 years, I see myself as an established lawyer and activist. I dream of one day owning my own law firm. As someone who is involved in activism, if not as a minister then I see myself as a member of parliament. I see myself as a very influential powerful women impacting the lives of many young women. I have always aspired to be a role mode who inspires others to be their best version. Honourable advocate Bridgetti Mambondiani, that in me in the next 10 years.
For my YELL program I am planning of embarking on a constitutional awareness programme. I will be educating young women on their rights provided for by the legal frameworks. I believe that legal awareness will actual encourage women to participate more and also be self-confident and knowledgeable. I will do this through an online movement hash tag and community engagements too. I will be targeting mostly ghettos and rural communities so as to be socially inclusive.
