The covid 19 pandemic brought a lot of challenges on women in public market places. The new covid 19 regulations that only allows Zupco transport to operate has largely contributed to shortage of transport.
Mushikashika or unlicensed transport operators are now charging more money than the expected especially during pick hours.
The Mushikashika transport system has left many traders hopeless as some are associated with robbers.
The introduced covid 19 restrictions has caused an increase in prices of basic commodities as few suppliers are able to reach to the market places in this pandemic. The profits have also decreased comparing to prior the pandemic.
The curfew restrictions have also reduced the time of traders in the market. The fewer hours in the market the lesser the profits.
Many people are living on scrambles like rats ,with the fear of the pandemic which reduced the daily sales of people in market places.
The maximum force being implemented by the Zimbabwe Ruplic police like destroying market places and collecting $5us for those without masks is also affecting women in market.
Most of the women are selling their products on illegal places as proper market places are politicized by the council.
