Covid-19 induced lock down has thrown many into poverty and companies continue to shut down or downsize owing to reduced economic activities.
As disposable household incomes shrink and jobs dry young people have been forced to the streets where they survive from vending and doing minimal jobs referred to on the streets as Kungwavha ngwavha.
Many have turned to selling cellphone chargers and accessories to raise money for basic home needs such as food and rentals.
Owing to high levels of poverty many are defying the Covid 19 lockdown measures just to try and earn an income.
However some have now turned to use of Whatsapp and other social media platforms to grow their businesses.
Most of the online businesses are for the sale of phones selling, clothing and other electronic gadgets as well as groceries where the majority are now directing their earnings.
